Registration is still available at the door ;)

Thanks for the info. It's always good to hear from a local as to what are the good places to go.

Unfortunately the forecast states that it will rain all week. But isn't light rain pretty much a common occurrence for the pacific northwest?

Well, given where the convention center is, it all depends. Lots of neat stuff in NW. Portland is roughly divided by Burnside (north/south) and the river (east/west). The convention center is NE.

If the weather is nice, the river front is a nice walking area. Have to go to Powell's. Good pizza at Escape from New York. I don't know if they still do it, but the first Thursday of every month was opening night at a lot of galleries. They make a map and you can wander from gallery to gallery getting free food and alcohol, and often to live music.

The Japanese Gardens of course. Lots of shops and neat restaurants on NW 21st and 23rd between Burnside and Taylor (or so). In NW, streets are alphabetical going north.

Okay, I am getting home sick now. Thanks a lot. :P :)

I'm actually heading off to CHI this weekend. Searching the blogosphere to see who else is talking about it. Too bad you can't make it. This is my first time.

Since you're from Portland, any tips on what I should check out while I'm there?
