I got an email from a friend this morning that brightened my day.
[Fox] has begun talks to revive the Emmy-winning animated series and produce a limited number of new episodes, thanks to a resurgence in the show’s popularity on DVD and in reruns, Variety reports. Reps for 20th Century Fox have declined to comment on the news, but Variety says initial negotiations have begun.
What I would love to see is the cast and crew sign up to do 2 seasons, have Fox give it a decent run and show reruns on its other stations, then have the DVD available on the same day (or day after) the last show of the season.
Of course Matt Groening and David X. Cohen should probably dumb things down a bit because that was some of what contributed to the show’s downfall on fox. Most smart, edgy shows end up cancelled before their time. I’m looking at you Firefly. And Dark Angel. And, and, and…
Here’s to bringing back more episodes of Futurama!
